I probably said this once but I started this blog and every other social media site because I want to talk  about MS. I want to read about MS.  I want to learn every thing I can about MS. I talk about it because I don't want anybody feeling alone and misunderstood. I say that because  MS isn't commonly discussed in the African American community. If MS isn't discussed, who do you talk to? Family and friends don't understand. Neighbors don't get it either. Can't talk about it on the job. The Truth Is!

I don’t always feel like smiling, or doing the things I know to be right.   I don’t always feel peace & joy. There are moments I feel like crying, I feel like I’m about to break or my earth is about to shake. The harder I try the worse it gets, and failure is on my back. I had rough mornings in which turns into rough days which ends as a rough week. But in those times, I press on. What and how I’m feeling is a part of living life with MS, but I won’t allow it to STOP MY LIFE. I refuse to park here. I’m going to release these feelings back to the pit of hell. I won’t always feel and sometimes I don’t look like I’m fearfully and wonderfully made, BUT I AM…… “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”. In The Know

In the midst of doing research, I found an article about using sleep deprivation for severe depression.   It stated that sleep deprivation has a total opposite effect in healthy people then those with depression. The article said if you are healthy and don’t sleep, you develop an attitude but if you are depressed, it can improve your mood/cognitive behavior. I had to share for a couple of reasons:   I thought it was funny because if I read in to it, “I’m healthy & I’m not depressed”.   Because when I’m tired or sleepy; I quickly get an attitude and I’m going to sleep. Depression is a part of MS.   My opinion is that, we will all deal with it in one way or the other.
