Peace in midst of Helplessness - Part III of V

A Caregivers Attitude of Gratitude Part III of V
Peace in midst of Helplessness

So here we are experiencing Ruth’s first MS flare-up. As I walking away I could hear Jesus saying, “Fear Not”. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27. I stopped. Something was deferent, those over whelming feeling of emotions, were gone. Armed with a renewed mindset and the reassurance of peace, I was ready to try again. Knowing and understanding that it’s ok not have all the answers, it ok not to know what to do.

Things had changed with Ruth as well. Her fever came down, she was now coherent, (now that Jesus). Jesus stepped in and changed everything in that minute or two I was gone. I was able to get Ruth dressed (even though I put her dress on backwards), call for the Paramedics. By the time we got to the hospital Ruth was herself again.
DING-DONG, THE STRANGER’S GONE; ALLELUIA JESUS!

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" Isaiah 41:10.

Our first MS flare-up was a monster, for week Ruth ability to stand, walk, even get out of bed by herself was diminished. It was by the grace of the Lord that we made it through to the other side, VICTORIES. Shortly thereafter  Ruth and I  invested in some medical equipment (Wheelchair, Bedside commode, Water Proof Mattress Pad, etc.) to support with the day to day living with MS. We have learned a lot from this event. Now days we keep an eye on her temperature, urine color and over all body temperament.

We have been through three MS flare-ups year to date. Our first was the worse, we were able to get on top of the second and third flare-ups. What we learned is to keep an eye on Ruth's body temperature, this is the first sign that a flare-up maybe coming. We use Tylenol to temporarily reduce her fever when she has one. With Ruth it's essential that Ruth knows her body, able to understand what it’s telling her and being able to communicate that. Because of these two things we are able to get help sooner and short her down time. It is my hope and prayer that if you have never experienced anything like MS flare-up you don't. But if you do remember you are amazing.

Dear Lord, hear you servants prayer that someday no one will have to experience the devastating effects of MS. I read in your word, that you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Though our health gives way, we will not fear. Even when we have to go through, we place our trust in you. Bless those who have regard for the weak; delivers them in times of stress and despair. Thank you Jesus, for giving us your peace, a peace that surpasses understanding. With confidence we draw near to your throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find your hope in times of need. In our weakness, your strength is made perfect, Jesus. Amen!
