I was on Multiplesclerosis.net and there is a article about loneliness, MS, disability.  It is very powerful & it has some truth to it for me.  I think at some point with a disease that you can't actually see, we all probably feel some sort of isolation.  Without getting into details, it is a good story & worth reading.

What Not To Do

I was looking at  Everyday Health and noticed an article about MS and the environment. Smoking was one of the things listed that triggers MS symptoms.   The newsletter states that those who smoke have MS attacks more frequently. There were other triggers listed, but I focused on smoking because I am confused. Confused because I read the part about smoking as an oxymoron.   Why, because if smoking triggers an MS attack then why is marijuana being pushed medically for MS patients? I’m just saying!   Smoke is smoke.   I guess this is another doctor, patient conversation. This blew my mind too, in the same news letter, foods to avoid.  To my knowledge there is no special diet for those with MS.  I guess the following foods can trigger an attack:  Milk, saturated fats, trans fats, sugar, sodium, refined grains, gluten. In The Know

In the midst of doing research, I found an article about using sleep deprivation for severe depression.   It stated that sleep deprivation has a total opposite effect in healthy people then those with depression. The article said if you are healthy and don’t sleep, you develop an attitude but if you are depressed, it can improve your mood/cognitive behavior. I had to share for a couple of reasons:   I thought it was funny because if I read in to it, “I’m healthy & I’m not depressed”.   Because when I’m tired or sleepy; I quickly get an attitude and I’m going to sleep. Depression is a part of MS.   My opinion is that, we will all deal with it in one way or the other. What Is This?

I never seen anything like this before in my life. MS is the lonest, the most expensive, the most complicated and I can go on forever. I never experienced anything like this before.  Right now, I feel like I'm the only person in the world. I feel like nobody cares and if they do, well, they don't understand.  With MS, to not  understand or to not care is the same thing. Because with both, one can not relate to the MS patient.  Speaking personally, that is what anyone with a chronic disease need, someone to understand and have the ability to relate to the disease and all the obstacles that come with it. The Truth Is!

I don’t always feel like smiling, or doing the things I know to be right.   I don’t always feel peace & joy. There are moments I feel like crying, I feel like I’m about to break or my earth is about to shake. The harder I try the worse it gets, and failure is on my back. I had rough mornings in which turns into rough days which ends as a rough week. But in those times, I press on. What and how I’m feeling is a part of living life with MS, but I won’t allow it to STOP MY LIFE. I refuse to park here. I’m going to release these feelings back to the pit of hell. I won’t always feel and sometimes I don’t look like I’m fearfully and wonderfully made, BUT I AM…… “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”. Not My Battle

I've been blogging for a while now and I feel like I've have been babbling on.  I read something that sums up what I've been trying to say which is: The only thing that I don't agree with is THIS IS NOT MY FIGHT.  The battle belongs to Jesus. “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. Why?

There is power in acknowledging that Jesus is Lord! Above all else,  giving Him the highest praise because He is worthy... Hallelujah! Praise & worship helps me take the focus off of myself.  Praise keeps me humble; a constant reminder that it's not about me at all. IT'S ABOUT JESUS ! Tired?

Fatigue is another hurdle that I must jump over if I’m going to have more control over how MS affects my life.   I do light exercise and I recognized that exercise has many benefits for people with MS, including improvements in strength, balance, muscle stiffness, and bowel and bladder control. It can also reduce MS spasticity and may improve or delay cognitive impairment. Yes, I do experience some type of fatigue.   I like to describe it as a different kind of tired. Being diagnosed with MS makes one reflect on life.   I’ve learned to thank God for the small triumphs.   I stop taking things for granted.   Case and point, three words came to my mind, red, purple & blue.   I thank God for speech.   Lord, I thank You!
