Can Not Lose


I was sitting with my husband trying to get his attention & I just happen to look up at his computer screen, it read a little something like; what do you think?  With God on our side, we can’t lose. 

Immediately; Jesus brought two scriptures to my attention which were:


“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, [neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8-38:39. 

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.  Isaiah 54:17. 



The part that stuck out was “No weapon”.  In my words, the weapon might form, but it won’t work. In this case the weapon is MS and IT WON'T WORK! God will do exactly what He said; He will stand by His Word.

There are so many other things that I wanted to share about MS & some articles that I read but today I think I’ll continue to encourage myself. I can hear my father saying, don’t focus on the problem, but focus on the problem solver. We all know that’s Jesus. 


I think I’m just tired; I get bunches of emails about MS. I’m tired of hearing, talking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I believe education is power. We got to educate ourselves because the doctor will only say so much.  I think with any kind of disease, we should advocate for ourselves. Some people/doctors only tell you what you ask.  We don’t get the right answer because we don’t ask the right question.  






I always refer back to when my niece was only about 3 or 4 years
old, I was talking to my mother about life issues. My niece looked at me & said Aunt Ruth if you be still, God will help you, but if you move; He will not help you.  It just blew my mind that God used a little kid to say that & she didn’t have a clue.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10


Lord, I thank You.  Thank you for loving me, saving me and keeping me.  Lord, You sent Your only Begotten Son; He died on  the cross for me and I  thank You. Even though I've had some good days, I've had some hills to climb, I've had some weary days and some sleepless nights, but when I look around and I think things over.  "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

God Is

The thing about being diagnosed with MS; I don't have to go off of someone else's testimony. I know God for myself. I know that He's a Way maker. I know that He's a Shield.   I know that He's a Provider. I know that He's a Healer. I know He's a Protector. He is a Wonderful Counselor. I know that He is the Alpha & Omega. God is Good. God is Real. God is Love. God is my Light in this web of chronic disease of MS.   God is Able. God is my Father, my Friend, God is my Husband.   God is my Joy. God is my Strength. My God is my Today & Tomorrow.   God is a Promise Keeper; He never come short of His Word. God is my all and all! Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27

Cold

I’ve had a cold for about 2-3 weeks. My legs feel heavy. It feels like a force against gravity putting one foot in front of the other trying to walk. I feel like I have what can be called the “Man Cold.” I’m coughing, sniffling, sneezing, and wheezing with a congested chest. With MS the medication of my choice suppresses my immune system which caused me to reschedule my next treatment. Through God’s grace the cold will be gone before my appointment.   If I go too long without getting the MS treatment my body starts to do its own thing. Rest, fluids, vitamins, and food helps the MS cold; however I do not have an appetite so I eat little or nothing. Feeling this way really concerns me because with the symptoms could come an elevated body temperature which can lead to a pseudoexacerbation. Pseudoexacerbations of MS are flare-ups and is not a worsening of the disease. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” Psalm 41:3 ...

Speak Now Forever Hold Your Peace

Being diagnosed with MS makes one reflect on life.   I’ve learned to thank God for the small triumphs.   I stop taking things for granted.   Case and point, three words came to my mind, red, purple & blue.   I thank God for speech.   Lord, I thank You! Red represents power and courage Purple is often associated with royalty          Blue represents loyalty Colors tel l a story . Words are not just sounds. Our words have real power. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,” Proverbs 18:21. God spoke the world into existence by the power of His word. “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,” Hebrews 11:3. Words do more than provide information. The power of our words can destroy or build up one’s spirit. “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit” Proverbs 15:4. Good

Sitting here looking back over my life brings tears to my eyes to see God working in my life.   The Lord is good to me.   He went as far as giving His only Son .   “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”   John 3:16 Thank you, Jesus for waking me up this morning, putting food in my kitchen and clothes on my back. You are good to me.   I thank You for the good & bad times including MS because all of it is making, molding and shaping me into the woman that You created me to be. Lord, You are good to me. Be Kind To Yourself!

Now, I know personally how stress affects MS and I understand what people meant by saying, Ruth, be kind to yourself.   I’m finding that making changes to my life style/diet helps with managing MS symptoms. I'm not on any particular diet, I just eat less & feel better.

Where Did It Come From?

As I said before, there is no rhyme or reasoning to my blogging.   None of this is in chronical order.   I write as it is on my mind. When the doctor first diagnosed MS, while waiting for test results; he said something to the effect of if I don’t have it; he might as well retire. I thought 4 things:   (1) well, you idiot, you better go ahead home cause I DO NOT HAVE MS! (2) How will I manage it all? (3) How will it affect my husband? (4) God, what are You saying?   I was afraid.   Afraid of the unknown. Isaiah 43:1 “B ut now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Traveling through this journey, the only comfort that I have is knowing that God; created me, redeemed me, knows my name, is with me.   Otherwise I would have thrown up my hands & given up by now.   Oh, after three years, I still don’t know what God is tr...

Refreshing

I had a great time at lunch yesterday with a group of friends. I feel really blessed to be a part of a MS support group. There is a lot of wisdom in the room; along with good people.   It is an honor and privilege to talk to people that are traveling the same road that I'm on.   “Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” Ezra 10:4  I was reading Healthline and 12 foods were listed for being high in vitamin B12. After looking at the list, my first thought was OMG.   I know I might have a deficiency because out of the items listed, I probably eat two things.   The foods are as follows: Organ meats, clams, sardines, beef, fortified cereal, tuna, fortified nutritional yeast, trout, salmon, fortified nondairy milk, eggs, milk & dairy products.                               BE BLESSED!

Stupid!

Out of curiosity, what is a MS flare-up like in your world?   Have you ever had one? My first one was, well, there I go using that word again.   It was scary.   I awoke & could not talk, walk. I still had my mind.   However; no signals were getting to the brain.   I could see & hear what was going on around me, but I couldn’t respond. I don’t know why, but my husband took me to the bathroom & sat me on the toilet.   I fell; I couldn’t even sit up by myself.   It was by God’s Grace that I wasn’t hurt. “ You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus” 2nd Timothy 2:1 I couldn’t walk, talk or think but God allowed the first thing on my mind to be, oh Lord.   I thought, oh Lord, do I have to spend the rest of my life like this?   I remember thinking, my God is bigger than this.   MS that is.
