Why?

Early in the diagnosis of MS a friend told me that she was having a problem with button up shirts and I didn't understand so I just listened to her story.  My point is,  today, I GET IT!  It takes me 30 minutes to button my shirt; 45 or so just to zipen my coat.

I can't be that person that says, I  can't do it.  I have to try!

SMALL TRIUMPHS & FRIENDS

I have a childhood friend and with the good, bad & ugly in life she is always there for me. Point being, I had a short stay in the hospital & when I was released, I text her to thank her for her generosity. I received a response from her that really lifted my spirits. In respecting her privacy, I'll share some of what was said without using her name. Hey Ruth no need to thank me for anything. What I know  and dont take for granted is we are Friends & Sister till the end. Yes we get lost in time and in our everyday lives but I will ALWAYS be  there for you. Im only a phone call or text away. Dont ever forget that.

Sunshine

A Note To My Husband:  I never knew love until I met God & then He introduced me to an extraordinary man.   A man that loves God more then he loves me and love me more then he loves himself.  In the beginning, I was unsure of what I was looking at.   It was like walking around with blinders on trying to find a peek of sunshine. Through my relationship with God and the studying of His Word, I learned, that man, my husband, caretaker was showing nothing but patience and adoration over 32 years.   T o be a caretaker of any one with a chronic disease must be a huge task. To be the husband of a woman that is diagnosed with MS, the task got to be even larger.   Sometime I don’t show it, but every day, I’m thankful. OK

Sometimes I just have to encourage myself.  MS is rough, frequently I've had some bad days, but I am going to be alright.  I might bend, but I wont break and I am ok, because I got faith. I know that there is a blessing after every trial. I know that God made me strong for a reason so when MS gets heavy I encourage myself. I am alright, I am ok, I am going to make it. Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." ~  Jeremiah 17:14

Words

I believe in the power of words. I was asked, if I say that I don’t have MS then why do I take the medicine?   Several answers to that question. I   don’t say it because:   (1)   I don’t want to be moved by my circumstances (2) I can’t ask God to bless me & then tell Him how (3) As I said, I believe in the power of words (4) I BELIEVE WHAT God says about me. Jesus said, Ruth, “Arise, go your way. Nobody Can Be a Better Me Than Me

It is time to get in motion.   I start an exercise program in a couple of days.   To improve my balance & strength, the doctor suggested that I attend PT.   I have decided to attend the Yes U Can program. ( Read more @ yesucanusa.org )   The program is designed to offer fitness support to adults with limited mobility.   Personally I think it’s great for those battling MS and there is no fee for this program. An update will come later after I attend a couple of sessions and get into the swing of things. Talk To Me

I probably said this once but I started this blog and every other social media site because I want to talk  about MS. I want to read about MS.  I want to learn every thing I can about MS. I talk about it because I don't want anybody feeling alone and misunderstood. I say that because  MS isn't commonly discussed in the African American community. If MS isn't discussed, who do you talk to? Family and friends don't understand. Neighbors don't get it either. Can't talk about it on the job. Who do you run to?  Who do you talk to?  “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.   Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”   1st Peter 5:6-7  Again I say; disease is disease!  To not have any knowledge about a particular subject makes one ignorant to the fact.
