Why?

Early in the diagnosis of MS a friend told me that she was having a problem with button up shirts and I didn't understand so I just listened to her story.  My point is,  today, I GET IT!  It takes me 30 minutes to button my shirt; 45 or so just to zipen my coat.

I can't be that person that says, I  can't do it.  I have to try!

What Not To Do

I was looking at  Everyday Health and noticed an article about MS and the environment. Smoking was one of the things listed that triggers MS symptoms.   The newsletter states that those who smoke have MS attacks more frequently. There were other triggers listed, but I focused on smoking because I am confused. Confused because I read the part about smoking as an oxymoron.   Why, because if smoking triggers an MS attack then why is marijuana being pushed medically for MS patients? I’m just saying!   Smoke is smoke.   I guess this is another doctor, patient conversation. The Truth Is!

I don’t always feel like smiling, or doing the things I know to be right.   I don’t always feel peace & joy. There are moments I feel like crying, I feel like I’m about to break or my earth is about to shake. The harder I try the worse it gets, and failure is on my back. I had rough mornings in which turns into rough days which ends as a rough week. But in those times, I press on. What and how I’m feeling is a part of living life with MS, but I won’t allow it to STOP MY LIFE. I refuse to park here. I’m going to release these feelings back to the pit of hell. I won’t always feel and sometimes I don’t look like I’m fearfully and wonderfully made, BUT I AM…… “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”. In The Know

In the midst of doing research, I found an article about using sleep deprivation for severe depression.   It stated that sleep deprivation has a total opposite effect in healthy people then those with depression. The article said if you are healthy and don’t sleep, you develop an attitude but if you are depressed, it can improve your mood/cognitive behavior. I had to share for a couple of reasons:   I thought it was funny because if I read in to it, “I’m healthy & I’m not depressed”.   Because when I’m tired or sleepy; I quickly get an attitude and I’m going to sleep. Depression is a part of MS.   My opinion is that, we will all deal with it in one way or the other. What Is This?

I never seen anything like this before in my life. MS is the lonest, the most expensive, the most complicated and I can go on forever. I never experienced anything like this before.  Right now, I feel like I'm the only person in the world. I feel like nobody cares and if they do, well, they don't understand.  With MS, to not  understand or to not care is the same thing. Because with both, one can not relate to the MS patient.  Speaking personally, that is what anyone with a chronic disease need, someone to understand and have the ability to relate to the disease and all the obstacles that come with it. I think I'm overwhelmed.  Sometimes I think too much. However I saw a quote that said "Sun is alone too, but still shines." MS has taught me many things and a few of them are:  Everyone has obstacles to overcome, I must be grateful, Thank God for the small triumphs. " Rejoice always, pray continually, give t hanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I'm Not Going To Be In A Battle About It

I read this quote that went something like, pigeons flock together but eagles fly alone.   I think I’ll fly like an eagle. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”   Isaiah 40:31. If you are listening, everything is heighten with MS.   What I mean is, if you get a cold or have a few choice words with someone; well with MS you get more than just that cold or a difference with someone.   Everything effects MS one way or the other.   Whatever the effect is, it’s usually not in the best interest of the person with MS. Is a person supposed to build a house inside a plastic bubble?   In life, you will be on the mountain top and at times, you can be in the valley low. Livin

I was talking to my niece today & she asked me, what did I have plan for today?   I had to explain to her that with being diagnosed with MS, my days are based on how I feel. If I don’t feel it, I don’t do it.   The only thing that I do even when I don’t feel up to it is, get the Tysabri treatment.   (Read more @ Tysabrihcp.com ) .   This medication does not change the way I feel.   It does what it is designed to do and that is slow down the progression of the disease.   Once I understood that, I could deal with getting it better. On most days I feel fatigue, pain, pens & needles feeling in my feet.   The pain is never in the same place.   It could be in hands, feet, legs, back, head, eyes, face or whatever MS decides to do on that day.   I like to use the terms that MS is sneaky and unpredictable.   I never know what I’m dealing with. In talking to my husband, he described MS as a bridge with a piece missing; like a section of the road that isn’t there. This came up while discussing taking medication to interact with the other complications MS may cause.   All this talk made me think of medications & what MS is to me. Not only will I have to deal with the side effects from the medication but I’m dealing with whatever MS decides to throw at me.   In the midst of it all, where does that leave me? With this in mind; I have my reservations about taking anything other than Tysabri. That’s  a conversation for the doctor. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” 3 rd John 1:2.
